Congaree Vista Guild, City Center Partnership and the City of Columbia Welcome Yellow Shirts to the Vista
September 10, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – The Congaree Vista Guild, City Center Partnership and the City of Columbia hosted a joint press conference announcing plans to have a Yellow Shirts clean and safe ambassadors program in the Vista as part of a joint agreement and sharing of resources between the Congaree Vista Guild and City Center Partnership on Weds. Sept. 10, at10:30 a.m. under the canopy at the corner of Gervais and Lincoln streets.
Columbia City Councilman Cameron Runyan, Congaree Vista Guild Executive Director Sarah Lewis and City Center Partnership President and CEO Matt Kennell spoke about the partnership between the Vista Guild and City Center Partnership as well as the impact the Yellow Shirts will have on cleanliness and public safety in the Vista, and the impact the presence of the Yellow Shirts have had since they’ve been on Main Street.
Plans for Yellow Shirts in the Vista:
– Through an aggressive, competitive hiring process, six Yellow Shirts ambassadors will be working in the Vista beginning Sept. 17.
– Yellow shirts will work to keep the neighborhood clean and safe in the heart of the Vista, from Assembly to Huger streets and from Washington to Senate streets. They will work nearly all hours of the day, except a few early morning hours.
– Yellow Shirts ambassadors will be dually branded and wear Congaree Vista logos and City Center Partnership logos.
“With $500 million worth of investments and new development coming to the Vista, we know that we’re welcoming more and more tourists and Midlands residents and downtown workers to the Vista all the time,” said Sarah Lewis, executive director of the Congaree Vista Guild. “We are so pleased to be able to share the Yellow Shirts with City Center Partnership and Main Street and all of our visitors, patrons and residents can feel confident that cleanliness and safety is the Vista Guild’s first priority.”
