USC’s College of Nursing and Lexington Medical Center opened a new cutting-edge clinical training centeron the hospital’s West Columbia campus.

The center will allow USC to boost the number of nursing graduates each year from 220 to 400, an 80 percent increase that will help ease a statewide nursing shortage.

“Today, we see our college transformed,” College of Nursing Dean Jeannette Andrews said. “Our new satellite campus and its cutting-edge technology will elevate what our students can experience.”

Lexington County Sens. Nikki Setzler (B.A., ’68; J.D., ’71) andKatrina Shealy attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month.
