Dominate your market – Hold yourself accountable

Hold yourself accountable

The English sculptor Henry Moore had it right.

“Think in terms of the day’s resolutions, not the year’s.”

You know people who make New Year’s resolutions.

But the game is over long before February.

You know others who pride themselves on their goals.

They have one problem. They never finish them.

They let the busyness of life get in their way.

.

Many of us say we are willing to be held accountable.

But most don’t and rarely understand what it means.

Are we willing to answer for the results of what we do?

This involves actions, choices and decisions we make.

It means asking someone we trust to check on us.

For many people, that sounds like second grade.

It isn’t. And here’s a story that shows why.

.

Consultant Todd Herman asked his coach for help.

He wanted him to monitor his monthly performance.

Did he make all three goals for the month?

Were there any that he did not achieve?

He agreed to post the results on his web site.

You can imagine the influence of this self-exposure.

It was a powerful motivator to get things done.

For Todd, missing his goals was intimidating.

He learned to discipline himself to act on them weekly.

My clients participate in Warp Speed Coaching.

We don’t waste time. 30 minutes a month is all it takes.

The first 15 minutes is Accountability Time.

They tell me what they did and what they learned.

If they lie to me, they are only doing it to themselves.

The second 15 minutes is Goal Setting Time.

They stick to three but make them major goals.

Each goal will have a series of needed steps.

They email me their plan for each goal.

That way they get feedback at the start of the month.

But the clock is running and 30 days is not long.

If you’re interested, email me for details.

Most of us struggle with managing time.

But the payoff for us is incredible:

We get more important things done.

We have more time for ourselves.
