January 31, 2022

Better Business Bureau (BBB®) of Upstate South Carolina is pleased to announce the appointment of Dorothy F. Self of DFS Creative Concepts as Chair of the Local Advertising Review Program (LARP).

Previously serving as Vice Chair of the LARP, Self brings extensive professional experience within advertising to the role. She is the founder of DFS Creative Concepts, a full-service marketing agency. For over 13 years, Self has been a transformational leader in the marketing, advertising, and brand building community.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve our Upstate community as the chairman of the LARP. This committee lives at the intersection of integrity and performance and is dedicated to fostering trust between businesses and consumers,” Self said. “Working with our local businesses to promote respect, ethics, and intent while working towards a diverse, inclusive and equitable marketplace is the overarching goal of everyone who serves on the LARP.”

Implemented through a local partnership between BBB and the American Advertising Federation of Greenville, SC, the LARP committee monitors advertising claims against BBB’s Code of Advertising, a comprehensive set of guidelines established to help businesses plan honest and effective marketing and advertising programs.

BBB of the Upstate President and CEO, Vee Daniel, said the purpose of the LARP is to promote truthfulness and accuracy of advertising.

“Having an industry professional like Dorothy lead BBB’s LARP is a great asset to the program,” Daniel said. “We look forward to this new year with Dorothy working alongside local businesses to promote trust within the marketplace.”
