Dr. Michael Bryant named Executive VP

Dr. Michael L. Bryant, dean of the School of Christian Studies and associate professor, has been named executive vice president at . Bryant’s responsibilities will include Strategic Planning, Student Services, Denominational Relations, Campus Ministries, the Whitfield Center for Christian Leadership, Diversity and University Relations.

After earning his doctorate, he returned as a faculty member and chair in the Religion Department, chair of the Faculty Senate, then Dean of Christian Studies and presently leads the Strategic Planning process.

Bryant said, “While a student at CSU, many faculty and staff invested in me in significant ways, preparing me for the future,” said Bryant. “I plan to continue their tradition of faithful, loving service. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to serve alongside so many others who are committed to Christian higher education.”

Dr. Bryant is the 2012 Excellence in Teaching Award recipient for South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities.

“Dr. Bryant has always been a leader and a person with impeccable integrity,” said CSU president Dr. Jairy Hunter, Jr. “I enjoyed working closely with him when he was president of the student body. Dr. Bryant’s passion for the university’s vision of integrating faith in learning, leading and serving is inspiring.”

Bryant received an MDiv with Languages and PhD in Biblical Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also received a BA in history from Charleston Southern.

Dr. Peter Link will serve as interim dean of the School of Christian Studies while the search for a new dean is conducted.
