Eddie Marshall Elected President of Joanna Lions Club

July 17, 2024

The Joanna Lions Club, a vital part of the community since its chartering in 1956, has announced Eddie Marshall as its new president. Marshall, a dedicated member since November 1996, brings a wealth of experience and commitment to his new role. His extensive service includes holding the positions of District Governor in 2004 and Council Chairperson for South Carolina in 2008.

“I’m looking forward to a great year in service,” Marshall shared. “As President, I will facilitate the meetings of the year and strive to meet the Club Excellence goals for the year.”

Under Marshall’s leadership, the Joanna Lions Club will continue to serve the communities of Joanna, Clinton, Mountville, and Cross Hill, focusing on meeting vision needs for those who cannot afford eye exams, glasses, surgeries, and more. “If there is a need in the community, we can work to meet that need,” Marshall emphasized.

Marshall has outlined four main goals for the year to ensure the club’s continued success:

  1. Increase Membership: “We can serve more people with more hands,” Marshall said, highlighting the importance of growing the club’s membership to expand its reach and impact.
  2. Increase Service: Recognizing and meeting the needs of the communities served by the club is a top priority. “We will strive to recognize the needs in the communities that we serve and meet the needs the best that we can,” Marshall explained.
  3. Leadership: Marshall aims to assist members in recognizing their leadership skills and encourage them to take leadership roles beyond the club level, fostering a culture of growth and development.
  4. Retention: Ensuring that members feel included and valued is crucial for the club’s sustainability. “The only way to increase membership is to keep the ones that you have. We also want to make sure that we take care of our own,” Marshall noted.

With a steadfast commitment to the Lions International motto, “We Serve,” Eddie Marshall’s presidency promises a year of growth, enhanced service, and strengthened community ties.
