Endurance Hiker and Author Andra Watkins Speaks at Rotary Club of Sumter

August 7, 2014

SUMTER, SC – Andra Watkins, author of the To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis, speaks at the Rotary Club of Sumter this week. The Rotarians invited Watkins to speak about her genre-bending novel and her historic 444-mile hike of the Natchez Trace, a 10,000-year-old road between Natchez, MS and Nashville, TN.

Watkins is the only living person to follow the path of the pioneers, recreating their month-long walk in fifteen-mile daily increments. Her talk shares the ups and downs of a solitary feat of endurance and the gift of spending time with her aging parents near the end of their lives.

Her novel explores redemption and how people are remembered after they’re gone using Meriwether Lewis, of Lewis and Clark fame, as its protagonist. It is available everywhere books are sold, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Check out the reviews here.

To honor August as the birth month of Meriwether Lewis, the book is discounted to $2.99 on Kindle.
