Enthusiasm wins the sale

Super salesman Zig Ziglar greeted us at the door.
He made us feel like we were important to him.
He did that with all who came to his seminar.
He was teaching us a lesson: Enthusiasm sells.
“Selling is a transfer of feeling,” Zig often said.
You will miss a few sales by being too enthusiastic.
But you miss more if you aren’t enthusiastic enough.

Zig’s words were illustrated by a sale last week.
Usually we are on the selling side of the table.
This time we were on the buying side. It’s different.
There’s pressure on both sides of the table.
On the sales side, you want to close the sale.
What do you need to say and do to close it?
On the buying side you aim to make a good decision.
What do you need to ask and know to do that?

One of our main vendors is closing his business.
He has been reliable. We’re sorry to lose him.
We approached six prospective suppliers.
Two said they could not handle our needs.
The other four submitted similar bids.
All were acceptable on price and quality.
The winning bidder won on enthusiasm.
“We really want your business,” he said.
He said it again and again in every call and email.
We were impressed with his desire to work with us.
It was a compliment that we were that important.

Let me suggest you ask yourself these questions:
• Do you sincerely believe in what you have to offer?
• Do you feel you are the best fit for your prospects?
• Is your product the best choice they can make?
• Do you sincerely want to do business with them?
• Can you show them they are important to you?
• Can you convince them you are their best choice?
If your answers are yes, I’ll bet you make the sale.
