October 6, 2020

Explore Charleston and the Lowcountry Hospitality Association (LHA) are collaborating with community partners to host a hospitality industry job fair, Hire for Higher, on Thursday, October 15 at the renovated Charleston Visitor Center.

Hilton Managed Properties, Hotel Bennett, Lowcountry Hotels and Queen Street Hospitality are among the employers that will be represented. Partner agencies working with Explore Charleston and LHA to support the job fair include the City of Charleston Housing Authority, the Charleston County Public Library and SC Works.

“This job fair is another example of the power of collaboration between the hospitality industry and our government partners,” says Helen Hill, CEO of Explore Charleston. “By connecting residents with job opportunities and professional resources, we are positively impacting people’s lives and strengthening our community and industry. There has never been a more critical time to collectively pursue workforce development efforts.”

“We recognize proximity to work is an important consideration for employees,” says LHA President Michelle Woodhull. “Our hope is that by focusing this particular job fair on openings in downtown Charleston, both employers and candidates can more easily identify successful opportunities.”

The Hire for Higher Job Fair will take place from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Camden Room in the Charleston Visitor Center, located at 375 Meeting Street, Charleston, S.C. Admission is free and open to the public. The event will follow CDC guidelines and social distancing precautions, and masks will be required.
