Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers to fight hunger during local donation drive

October 31, 2019

Month-long effort will generate 5 meals per oil change in Columbia area

Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers will continue a tradition of giving this year, donating $1, the equivalent of five meals, to Harvest Hope Food Bank for every oil change performed in the Columbia area in November. Since 2015, this effort has generated more than $30,000 for Harvest Hope, providing 150,000 meals for those in need.

In addition to the $1 donation for every oil change, Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers are encouraging their customers to also make a donation in the fight against hunger. Customers are asked to let their technician know if they would like to donate to families in need.

“The holidays are the busiest season for us at Harvest Hope,” says Wendy Broderick, Harvest Hope CEO. “Without the support of community partners like Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers, we could not continue to feed the almost 100,000 individuals facing hunger in our community.”

The annual drive began following the catastrophic flood in October of 2015, and continues to grow each year with the support of the Midlands community.

“Harvest Hope provides critical services in the battle to fight hunger throughout the entire state of South Carolina,” says Gregg Gaskins, owner of Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers here in the Midlands. “It’s a privilege for us to continue our annual donation drive during the month of November to raise awareness and funds that help offset the cost of serving those in need. We were recently informed that over 44,000 children in the Midlands are food insecure, and it’s our goal to help change that.”
