Flock and Rally honored with six industry awards from the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America

June 3, 2024

Flock and Rally, the women-owned and operated integrated communications and marketing agency based in Columbia, South Carolina, recently earned two Best in Show awards and four Awards of Excellence from the S.C. Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA) at the annual Mercury Awards celebration on May 9, 2024.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by SCPRSA with two Best in Show awards and four Awards of Excellence,” says Merritt McNeely, chief executive officer at Flock and Rally. “These accolades are a testament to the hard work and creativity of our team, and they highlight the impactful work we strive to deliver for our clients. Our commitment to excellence continues to drive us forward.”

SCPRSA is the South Carolina chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, which is world’s largest organization for public relations professionals. Each year, SCPRSA hosts an awards program to recognize exceptional work accomplished by South Carolina public relations practitioners, communicators and students. The Flock and Rally team was honored with awards for the following entries and, in a feat not often achieved, received perfect scores on both of their Best in Show submissions:

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden: Aquarium and Reptile Conservation Center Grand Opening Best in Show Mercury Award
Mercury Award of Excellence

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden hired Flock and Rally to plan and implement a grand opening campaign and ceremonial ribbon cutting to promote the Darnall W. and Susan F. Boyd Aquarium & Reptile Conservation Center (ARCC). The campaign was designed to highlight the Boyd Foundation’s contribution, showcase their commitment to conservation, and attract a broad audience. Flock and Rally managed media relations leading up to the opening and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with dignitaries, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, a variety of elected officials, the Boyd Foundation, Riverbanks leadership and members of the community.

South Carolina State Fair: Live Social Media Campaign on Instagram Best in Show Silver Wing Award Silver Wing Award of Excellence

The South Carolina State Fair hired Flock and Rally to create a social media playbook and implement a live social media campaign for the 2023 fair. The purpose of this live social media campaign was to showcase the fair’s exhibits, competitions, food, rides, entertainment and people during the 12-day event. The attention to detail and technical quality were evident in the social media content posted during the S.C. State Fair and the nod to event-based social media trends. While onsite, Flock and Rally implemented in-the-moment content that aligned with pre-planned content creating a robust campaign. Instead of just capturing content of the rides and attractions, Flock and Rally captured photos and videos of the fair experiences through the perspective of the fairgoer.

Disability Rights South Carolina: Voting is My Right Campaign Mercury Award of Excellence

Through a grant provided by the federal Protection and Advocacy for Voting Access (PAVA) Program, Disability Rights South Carolina hired Flock and Rally to create and launch the “Voting is My Right” awareness campaign to promote voter registration and voting in elections among young people living with disabilities. The campaign included the creation of the “Voting is My Right” name, brand and messaging. Flock and Rally developed a landing page, created collaterals, executed a media relations campaign, a social advertising campaign, community engagement, organic social media, an email newsletter campaign, a photoshoot and more.

Clachan Properties/BullStreet District: The Babcock Building Cupola Celebration Mercury Award of Excellence

Flock and Rally was hired by Clachan Properties, the owners of the Babcock Building and The Babcock apartments, to implement and promote a month-long celebration of the Babcock Building’s reconstructed iconic cupola, which was destroyed by fire in 2018. The campaign aimed to generate community awareness of the Babcock Building and the BullStreet District, secure positive earned media coverage, and honor the many individuals and entities that made the project possible. Through strategic planning and implementation, Flock and Rally ensured the strategies and objectives were carried out for this campaign, including securing high volumes of earned media coverage and managing a successful ceremonial event with dignitaries, including Governor McMaster, elected officials and key stakeholders.
