GADC Appoints Three New Board Members

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), the County-chartered organization tasked with promoting and enhancing the economic growth of Greenville County, is pleased to announce the appointment of three new business and community leaders to its Board of Directors. Jim Burns will serve a two year term (filling the seat of Willis Meadows), while Scott Case and Robbie “Angel” King have been appointed to inaugural three-year terms, ending in May, 2018. GADC Chairman Dick Wilkerson and Investor Public Relations Committee Chair Tim Justice have been re-appointed for three year terms.
In addition to representing the east side of District 21 in Greenville County Council where he serves on the Finance and Public Works and Infrastructure Committees, Jim Burns is also the current Director of Development for Central Realty Holdings. Prior to his Council term, Burns served on the Board of Zoning Appeals for both Greenville County and the City of Greenville. A nearly lifelong resident of Greenville, Jim graduated in Leadership Greenville’s class 28 and has been named as one for Greenville’s Best and Brightest under 35 and one of Greenville’s Most Influential People and is actively involved in several real estate industry and economic development groups. A graduate of Clemson University, Burns serves as a Director with the Greenville United Way and the Greenville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Scott Case is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years’ of broad professional experience at several accounting firms, a major corporation and a large law firm. Prior to becoming Greenville County Auditor in 2007, Case served 13 years on Greenville County Council and holds the record as its longest serving Vice Chairman/Chairman of Finance. Case’s financial leadership and counsel helped Greenville become one of only 24 counties in the nation to be awarded a coveted AAA credit rating. In additional to authoring key development financing plans, Case was instrumental in the creation of both the GADC and the Upstate Alliance. A graduate of Bob Jones University and Clemson University, Case is a member of the South Carolina CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, the South Carolina Association of Treasurers, Auditors and tax Collectors, and the Government Finance Officers Association.
Actively involved in various local charities and as a community advocate, Robbie “Angel” King is the Corporate Accountant for Lakeview Golf Club, Inc., where she has organized several charity golf tournaments. A resident of Piedmont, S.C., King holds degrees in accounting and marketing from Greenville Technical College.

The new directors succeed Willis Meadows, Mark Kent and Ambassador David Wilkins, who collectively served on the GADC Board for nearly 15 years.
“With deep expertise in issues of critical importance to the growth of our community, each of these individuals will play a critical role in the future success of GADC,” said Greenville County Council Chairman and GADC Board Member, Dr. Bob Taylor.
