Whether you enjoy writing or reading, Richland Library is providing local residents three opportunities to interact with notable authors throughout November.
Seeing as our staff are also observing National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), which issues a challenge of writing 50,000 words for a book in 30 days, it’s the perfect chance to explore story development and the writing process. Please join us for the following programs:
Grit Lit and Southern Wit: An Evening with George Singleton

Experience a comedic journey with nationally-acclaimed, Southern author George Singleton as he reads from his latest short-story collection, “Staff Picks.”
Meet the Author: Min Jin Lee
7 – 9:30 p.m., Friday, November 15
Richland Library Main
Hear from author Min Jin Lee about her bestselling novel “Pachinko,” chosen as the 2019 selection for One Book, One Community. The after-hours event includes a reception, book sale and book signing.
From Hogwarts to Westeros: Building Realistic Fantasy Worlds
2:30 – 3:30 p.m., Sunday, November 24

Learn techniques from Jill Criswell, author of the young adult historical fantasy, “Beasts of the Frozen Sun,” and writing instructor at UofSC Upstate. She plans to lead a workshop, geared toward writers of fantasy and sci-fi, which focuses on world-building best practices and specific examples from bestselling authors.
