Garvin Design Group welcomes two new team members

April 17, 2018

Garvin Design Group announced the recent hire of two new team members. Britta Lahr joins the group as Office Manager, and Meg Southern comes aboard as Marketing Manager.

Britta graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire in 2013 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration- Management. During her time at UW- Eau Claire, Britta spent two summers in Colorado serving at a faith-based Urban Youth Camp, learning more about the culture of inner-city Denver and working alongside other college students from various regions of the United States. Summers spent in Colorado had a significant impact and caused her to pursue further education within leadership and biblical studies at NewSpring Leadership College in Anderson, South Carolina. Britta is thankful for her time in both undergrad and continuing education as it has helped to shape her worldview and equip her for the present and the future.

Meg earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and History at the College of William and Mary in 2012 and went on to complete her Master of Arts in Public History at the University of South Carolina in 2014. She returns to Columbia after a two-year stint in Atlanta and is GDG’s first Marketing Manager. Following completion of her graduate program, Meg served as Assistant Principal at USC’s International House at Maxcy College. In this role she managed the International House’s multiple social media accounts, created marketing materials, and served as liaison to prospective students. Meg also moonlighted as Preservation Consultant with Historic Columbia. This work enabled her to author several successful nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, including GDG’s own City Market. Her work with the Historic Preservation Certification Application led her to join tax credit consulting firm Novogradac & Company’s Atlanta office in 2016. Meg further honed marketing skills as the VP of Social Media for the Atlanta chapter of her undergraduate alumni association.
