GILBERT, SC – Gilbert High Senior Adam Caratenuto was named to the 2014 NAfME All-National Mixed Choir Honor Ensemble sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) earlier this year.

Last week, Caratenuto joined 670 of the most musically talented and skilled high school students in the United States for a once-in-a-lifetime experience performing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.

The NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles consists of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed chorus and jazz ensemble. The concert band and symphony orchestra have approximately 150 instrumentalists, the jazz ensemble has 20 instrumentalists and the mixed chorus has approximately 350 vocalists.

These exceptional students are named the “best of the best” out of approximately 2.5 million students nationwide from local, district and state music festivals. Eligible students have qualified for their state-level honor ensemble program and competed against top students for a spot in these national honor ensembles.

Caratenuto is one of four students from South Carolina in the 350-person chorus.
