Gov. Nikki Haley Announces the Month of the Military Spouse

May 9, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Governor Nikki Haley today issued a proclamation designating May 2015 the Month of the Military Spouse, encouraging all South Carolinians to honor the courage and sacrifice of our military spouses.

“With  deep  dedication  and  selfless  sacrifice,  military  spouses  act  as  both  mother  and  father  during  deployments,  serve  as  caregivers  to  wounded  veterans,  and  make  untold  contributions  to  their  families  and  the  communities  in  which  they  live,” read the governor’s proclamation.

The governor’s proclamation recognizes the important roles military spouses play in geographically dispersed communities throughout South Carolina and the unique challenges they face without always having access to the military support systems that are present on military bases
