Grant from The Leon Levine Foundation helps New Morning expand vital reproductive healthcare

New Morning, a South Carolina nonprofit organization, announced it has received a $50,000 grant from The Leon Levine Foundation (TLLF) to support its program that provides free and low-cost birth control to uninsured and underinsured women throughout the state. The program, No Drama, is embedded within more than 140 health clinics and has already served more than 400,000 women in South Carolina resulting in a 44% decrease in unwanted births.
“New Morning has established itself as a statewide leader and resource by comprehensively addressing barriers for women as they seek access to birth control,” observed Dr. Mike Richardson, TLLF’s Senior Program Officer for Healthcare. “We’re honored to partner with New Morning and proud to fund the No Drama initiative.”
With funding from public and private partners, New Morning has built a collaborative network of clinics in all 46 counties across the state to offer patient-centered, contraceptive counseling and eight methods of free or low-cost birth control. It represents the largest state-based birth control access program in the Southeast.

Demand for birth control has grown over the past year, and this grant will help us continue to ensure that every woman has equitable access to high-quality counseling and birth control, if she wishes to prevent or delay a pregnancy,” said Bonnie Kapp, New Morning’s president and chief executive officer.
