Greenville City Fire Department announces partnership with CPI Security

February 27, 2017

The Greenville City Fire Department (GCFD) is partnering with CPI Security on an initiative to help young men and women prepare for a career in the fire service. CPI Security provided $5,000 to help fund the Greenville City Fire Explorers, a hands-on career-oriented program that is open to youth in grades 6 and up, through age 20.

Members of the Fire Explorers will experience what it is like to be a GCFD firefighter on a day-to-day basis while learning vital skills that will help them pursue their goal of becoming a firefighter. GCFD firefighters will serve as mentors for program participants.

The funds provided by CPI Security will be used to help outfit each Fire Explorer with training equipment and program funding will also enable Fire Explorers to attend classes that will help them attain Firefighter II certification. “It is important to us that we support the communities we live in and serve. We are proud to partner with the GCFD on this important initiative for our future firefighters,” said Ken Gill, President and CEO, CPI Security.

According to Will Broscious, GCFD’s Community Risk Reduction & Education Coordinator, the Fire Explorer program is a great way to develop a pool of qualified applicants and makes it possible for fire departments to recruit from within their local area. “CPI Security’s support will enable us to provide career opportunities for the youth in our community and will help us develop the next generation of firefighters who will serve the citizens of Greenville,” said Broscious.
