Greenville Country Club hostess earns Employee of the Year award

November 1, 2019

LaVerne Young, hostess at Greenville Country Club (GCC), is being honored with the Front of the House Employee of the Year award by the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association. Young has served in the hospitality industry for over thirty years and views her role as more of a caretaker than a Hostess, working tirelessly to ensure each guest at GCC has an exceptional experience.

Young recently completed her fourth successful round of chemo battling cancer. Despite her circumstances, she remained dedicated and continued serving without the need for recognition or accolade. Her dependability and positive attitude inspired the leadership at GCC to nominate Young for this award.

“There are many characteristics LaVerne encompasses that make her shine, but the ones we cherish most are her quiet demeanor and compassion for others,” said Greg Hobbs, General Manager. “We always work to honor and thank LaVerne, but we believe she deserves to be recognized by the industry for her dedication to superior hospitality service. She truly exemplifies all that we stand for as an organization and all that we strive to be moving forward.”

The award ceremony to honor Young and other recipients will take place on November 4th, at the Embassy Suites Golf Resort in Greenville, S.C.
