Greenwood Genetic Center Announces New Chairman of Board of Directors

GREENWOOD, SC – August 3, 2012 – Upstate physician, Dr. John Hunt of Anderson Surgical Associates has been elected chairman of the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) Board of Directors. He has served on the board since 2006. “GGC is privileged to have a talented and dedicated group of individuals comprising our board,” expressed Dr. Steve Skinner, director of GGC. “Dr. Hunt has a great vision and a passion for advancing the Center’s mission through our clinical, diagnostic, research and educational programs. We are excited to have him in this new leadership role.”
Hunt succeeds Greenwood attorney Jim McDonald as chairman. McDonald was elected as emeritus member of the board at the most recent quarterly meeting. Emeritus status recognizes an individual’s exceptional dedication and service to the Center. McDonald is only the fifth individual to receive the honor joining, Dr. Bill Klauber and the late Boykin Curry, both of Greenwood, Kirk Oglesby of Anderson and the late Dr. Les Meyer of Greenville.
Columbia businessman, Dan Dennis, owner of Dennis Corporation, also joined the GGC board. Dan and his wife Esther are the parents of a 7-year-old daughter with Down syndrome. “We are pleased to have Dan join our board of directors and welcome his unique perspective as both a small businessman and as a parent of a child with a genetic condition,” expressed Skinner.
