HMH Features Laurens County School District 55 Success in Video Spotlight Series
December 1, 2023Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) is honored to be featured in a video series created by learning technology company HMH showcasing the impact of the HMH curriculum in the classroom. HMH standards-aligned curriculum is on the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) Comprehensive Listings of State Adopted and Supplemental Instructional Materials.
The HMH ELA curriculum, HMH Into Reading and HMH Into Literature, and math curriculum, HMH Into Math, along with intervention and supplemental solutions MATH 180, READ 180, Amira Learning and Waggle, were implemented throughout Laurens County School District 55. Superintendent Dr. Ameca Thomas believes that implementing both curricula has eased educators from having to find standards-aligned resources. She also believes that it provides educators with the tools to enhance student progress monitoring, which elevates each educator’s ability to personalize student teaching and learning.
Dr. Thomas said, “We are truly honored by the request from HMH to feature our district. It is a testament to the great things we have been able to accomplish in terms of implementation and growth. This recognition would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our teachers. They have wholeheartedly bought into the necessity for a consistent core curriculum and have always prioritized what is best for our students. Thank you to our amazing teachers and administrators for their unwavering commitment to our students’ success.”
Teachers and students alike have positive things to say about its implementation. Visit. HMH’s website to watch the video spotlight series.
Dr. Amanda Patterson, HMH Senior National Director of Innovation and Insights, said, “Dr. Thomas and the entire Laurens 55 team have been an exceptional group of educators to collaborate with. This team of educators is intentional in their work, focused on student outcomes, adamant all teachers have access to the resources that best align with student growth, and wholeheartedly believes that every child can find success. Their attention to every detail around the data allowed them to make real-time instructional shifts for students while also providing ongoing professional learning opportunities for teachers. The success the district, students, teachers, and community are experiencing is a direct result of effective district leadership and I am looking forward to continuing this partnership on behalf of HMH.”
