How SC is Connecting Rural Hospitals with Stroke Specialists: Science Cafe, Hosted by EngenuitySC, at Speakeasy on May 14

COLUMBIA, SC – April 16, 2013 –  This month at Science Café, EngenuitySC hosts the founder of MUSC’s REACH Stroke Network, a statewide program that connects small and rural hospitals with neuroscience stroke specialists. Dr. Robert Adams, a SmartState Endowed Chair, will speak on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Speakeasy cocktail bar in Five Points.

In a casual setting that encourages discussion, Dr. Adams will give an informal talk on The REACH Network and stroke recovery in connection with National Stroke Awareness Month.

Free admission, cash bar and a convivial atmosphere are hallmarks of Science Café, home to The Year of the SmartState – a new, yearlong partnership between EngenuitySC and the SmartState ProgramTM (also known as the South Carolina Centers of Economic Excellence Program).

Dr. Adams is the SmartState Endowed Chair in Stroke and the Director of the Stroke Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. His research is in the field of clinical neurology, with a focus on preventing strokes and on developing new ways to deliver stroke care to patients.
