Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission Breaks Ground for New Park in Chapin
July 3, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – The Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission (ICRC) will break ground for a new park in Chapin on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. The new park, located off of Eptings Camp Road, will feature a baseball complex. The event will be held on the Park property located at Smoke Tree Dr. and is open to the public.
Initial development plans include a baseball complex with four fields and a pavilion with restrooms and concessions followed by the addition of a splash pad, two soccer fields and a park maintenance building. Construction will begin immediately and projected opening is spring/summer 2015. Future plans call for the property also include a tennis complex.
“The new park in Chapin will offer much needed space to accommodate the growth in the community and the rising need for fields for youth athletics and tournament play,” said Elizabeth B. Taylor, Executive Director for the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission. “The splash pad will offer an additional fun, outdoor amenity for Chapin residents to enjoy.”
