Jeff MCormack Tapped to Lead Chapin’s We Care Center
May 5, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – May 5, 2014 – The Board of Directors of Chapin’s We Care Center announced that Jeff McCormack has been chosen to serve as the organization’s new executive director. He will begin working immediately for the local non-profit which provides food and emergency assistance to clients in Chapin and the surrounding areas.
“I am excited to join an organization like We Care which has a strong reputation for assisting our local citizens during their times of extreme need,” McCormack said. “This aspect of servant ministry actually led me to seek this position, and I look forward to partnering with everyone in our community to not only provide basic needs but also help individuals seeking to re-establish themselves.”
A longtime Chapin resident, McCormack had an exemplary career with the state, serving most recently as the State Fleet Manager for nine years before retiring in 2013. During his 26-year tenure with the General Services Division of the Budget and Control Board, he managed a staff in excess of 30 people as well as a fleet of more than 1600 vehicles with a total capital asset value of $320 million.
McCormack implemented a number of progressive changes to make the fleet system more cost effective, helped other agencies with their vehicle procurement needs, and insured the state maintained compliance with U.S. Department of Energy mandates concerning the use of alternative fueled vehicles. He was recognized several times for his exemplary service, including being honored by the Southeastern Governmental Fleet Manager’s Association with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
His volunteer efforts include a number of leadership positions with Chapin United Methodist Church, where he is a member, and the Chapin Lions Club. He succeeds Maggie Siegfried who announced her plans to retire and once again serve as a volunteer interviewer with the non-profit.
We Care Center recently moved into a renovated 3600 sf building to better serve its growing client base in Chapin, Ballentine, White Rock, Peak, Pomaria, Prosperity and Little Mountain. We Care is a United Way agency and part of the Harvest Hope Food Bank network.
