Jeweler & fine artist to serve as Richland Library’s next artist-in-residence

January 9, 2019

A piece of jewelry has the ability to fuse personal experiences with a touch of history, thanks to one local artist’s expertise. Richland Library is excited to welcome Allison Cicero Moore as our next artist-in-residence on Friday, January 11.

Originally from Illinois, Moore is a jeweler and fine artist who currently lives, creates and teaches art in Columbia, South Carolina. She enjoys using familiar objects and contemporary concepts to link to the past.

“Despite being an inanimate object, jewelry also often plays a role in human interactions – potentially strengthening, defining or even straining relationships,” said Moore.

Moore is scheduled to host weekly office hours at our Main location (1431 Assembly Street), answering questions and sharing her knowledge about art with others. She also is coordinating with our arts librarian to offer an array of programs for all ages and to provide pieces for an upcoming exhibit in The Gallery at Richland Library. Her residency extends through May 2019.

Initially developed in September 2016, the concept behind Richland Library’s artist-in-residence is to connect the community with local, working artists and to provide creative and educational opportunities to local residents in a way that supports cultural and artistic exchange.
