January 27, 2016

FLORENCE, SC – Wells Fargo Private Bank announced John Bankson has been named head of its Business Advisory Services group. This unit works with business owners and their advisors to develop a succession plan, value the business, sell the business or manage closely-held interests held in trust or agency accounts. In his role, Bankson will be responsible for national leadership of the group, and growing its client base, which includes clients of The Private Bank and the ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families and foundations that are clients of Wells Fargo’s Abbot Downing business.

Prior to his new role, Bankson served as Wells Fargo’s business banking manager for Northeastern South Carolina. In his more than 32 years of experience in the financial services industry and 18 years with Wells Fargo and predecessor banks, he has held various positions including market president for Florence, S.C. He also served as commercial team leader, private banking team leader and regional banking relationship manager for various banks throughout the southeast.

“John brings tremendous experience working with businesses, CEOs and CFOs, helping them maintain their financial stability to run their day-to-day operations,” said Jeff Savage, head of Specialized Wealth Services at Wells Fargo Private Bank. “His practical experience in this field makes him a perfect match to run this important business for Wells Fargo.”

Wells Fargo Business Advisory Services is one of nine business areas that comprise The Private Bank’s Specialized Wealth Services. Business Advisory Services serves clients in 32 states and more than 100 markets nationwide.

“Having spent much of my career helping owners as they build their businesses, I look forward to working with our clients as they look to transfer or sell what they have built through their career,” said Bankson. “It gives me great pleasure to see some of my long-time clients reach their financial goals.”

Bankson received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Virginia. He lives in Florence, S.C., and is a member of the Florence Chamber of Commerce Board, treasurer of the Florence Darlington Technical College Foundation, member of the Florence County Progress Economic Development Board and president-elect of the Florence Little Theater.
