Johnson joins Morton & Gettys

Lance Johnson, an experienced real estate attorney, has joined Morton & Gettys as an associate. His practice focuses on commercial real estate and education law.

Johnson is returning to the Carolinas after beginning his legal career in Chicago. For the past four years, he’s worked as an associate at Chicago law firms that focused on real estate and financing. Johnson provided legal assistance to major financial institutions and government bodies in connection with commercial and mixed-use development.

Shortly after graduating from DePaul University College of Law, he served as assistant general counsel for Chicago Public Schools. In that role, he was an adviser for administrators and teachers at more than 600 public elementary and high schools. He also drafted legal communications covering issues involving LGBTQ students and ADA compliance, and represented the board in administrative hearings.

Johnson earned his bachelor’s in sociology and cultural anthropology at Duke University.
