“Just Sharing – Building Communities Through Stories of Our Past” at the Laurens County Museum on June 25

A panel of scholars and historians will gather with the public on Tuesday, June 25, at the Laurens County Museum, 116 South Public Square, Laurens, SC.  “Just Sharing – Building Communities Through Stories of Our Past” will bring stories of our past and lessons learned.  Refreshments will be served at 6:30 PM and the panel of speakers will begin at 7:00pm with stories to inspire the Laurens County Community to strengthen our collective trust and empathy.  The event will include time for sharing and discussion.  “Just Sharing” is free and open to the community.
The Laurens County Museum is excited to offer this panel of scholars.  Speakers include Clemson University professor Vernon Burton who will speak on “Reconstruction: The Least Understood, Most Progressive, and Most Important Period in US History”.  University of South Carolina professor Jennifer Guntner will speak about “Understanding Women’s Rights”. Local Historian and museum consultant Alice Taylor-Colbert will speak on “The Cherokee Story of the American Revolution”.   Laurens City Councilwoman Cassandra Campbell will be moderator for the evening.  “Just Sharing” is made possible through a generous grant through SC Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities initiative “United We Stand”.
