Laurens County School District 56 Celebrates Longevity and Excellence at Annual Banquet
May 8, 2024The Laurens County School District 56 recently honored its dedicated staff at the Annual Retirement and 25 Year Service Awards Reception and Banquet held at Clinton High School. This event recognizes the commitment and outstanding contributions of educators and support staff within the district.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome from Mr. Jim Barton, the Board Chair of Laurens County School District 56, followed by a heartfelt blessing led by Mr. Charlie Stinson, the Board Vice Chair. Attendees then enjoyed a delightful dinner before the program proceeded with the highlight of the evening—the recognition of service award honorees.
Dr. David O’Shields, overseeing the recognition awards acknowledged the remarkable individuals celebrating 25, 30, and 35 years of service to the district. This year’s retirees were also honored for their years of dedication to the district and its students.

The program concluded with the much-anticipated announcement of the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year. Katherine Addison was recognized as the Teacher of the Year and Brenda Pitt and Kris Varn were recognized as Support Staff of the Year.
