Laurens County Students Invited to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with Revolutionary War Poster Competition

August 5, 2024

The Laurens County Revolutionary War 250th Committee (LC250), in partnership with The South Carolina Revolutionary War 250th Commission (SC250), and The Laurens County Chamber of Commerce (LCCC), is excited to announce a poster competition for students as part of the preparations for America’s Sestercentennial. This competition aims to engage children in learning about the rich history of the Revolutionary War, particularly within Laurens County.

As we approach the 250th anniversary of America’s independence, LC250, SC250, and LCCC are dedicated to creating educational and engaging activities for young students. The poster competition offers an excellent opportunity for students to express their creativity while learning about this pivotal period in American history.

Competition Details:

– Eligibility: Open to all students in Laurens County (public, privite, and homeschool)

– Theme: What did Laurens County look like during the American Revolution.

– Submission Deadline: September 1st

– Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning entries

“We are thrilled to involve our community’s students in this significant historical celebration,” said Ernie Segars, Chairman of the LC250 Committee. “Through this competition, we hope to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of our County’s role in the Revolutionary War.”
