Laurens Police Department Postpones National Night Out Due to Hurricane Helene

September 30, 2024

The Laurens Police Department, in partnership with public safety officials, has announced the postponement of its annual National Night Out originally scheduled for October 1, 2024, due to Hurricane Helene.

The event will now take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Laurens Public Square. The department looks forward to seeing everyone there for this important community gathering.

National Night Out aims to strengthen police-community partnerships and promote neighborhood camaraderie. Residents can expect a fun, family-friendly atmosphere with a variety of activities, including games, food, music, and opportunities to connect with local police officers and first responders.

Chief Heath Copeland emphasized the significance of these events in building relationships with the community. “This event allows us to connect with the people we serve in a meaningful way,” said Copeland. “It’s an opportunity to build trust, have open conversations, and show our residents that we’re all working together to make Laurens a safer place to live.”

The Laurens Police Department encourages all residents to mark their calendars for this rescheduled event and join in fostering a united community.
