Lexington District One Board approves purchase of White Knoll property

Property intended for new elementary school in the White Knoll attendance area
During its Tuesday, July 16, 2019 Board Meeting and in accordance with board policy, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees accepted the administration’s recommendation to approve the purchase price for a piece of property located in the White Knoll attendance area.
The price is $350,000, which is approximately $10,000 per acre for the approximately 35-acre parcel owned by Linda Kay Mack and Jimmy R. Shumpert.
Intended as a location for a new White Knoll elementary school in the White Knoll attendance area, the parcel (Lexington County TMS # 007600-02-046) includes access from South Lake Drive and access from Bluefield Road.
Approved by the voters as part of the district’s Nov. 6, 2018 $365 million five-year building plan (2018–2023), the construction of a new elementary school in the White Knoll attendance area ensures that the district can continue to offer its students the facilities they need now and in the future.
Since the district understands that Lexington District One residents want to keep up with the progress of the building plan, the district developed a webpage to do just that. This site enables residents to see what is currently happening at their child’s school and includes “before” photographs, the current phase taking place, photographs of that progress, etc.
