Lexington Medical Center awards $1,500,00 to community organizations

Lexington Medical Center has awarded $1,500,000 to 27 organizations in the Midlands. These organizations enhance the health and wellness of community members.
Lexington Medical Center’s Community Outreach Committee and the Lexington Medical Center Foundation award the grants annually. The 2025 grantees are:

“Lexington Medical Center is proud to provide financial support to these partner organizations who provide key health services to our community,” said Thomas Tafel, Lexington Medical Center Director of Community Health. “These organizations address health care needs and by supporting them, we can help them continue to bridge the health care gaps within our service area.”
Giving criteria for Lexington Medical Center prioritizes organizations serving the local community’s health needs, increasing access to health care services for underserved populations, improving education about and prevention of health problems resulting from social and environmental issues, demonstrating collaboration with existing health care initiatives, improving access to health care and support services for vulnerable and at-risk populations, and improving the capacity of safety net services and providers.
About Lexington Medical Center
Lexington Medical Center is a 607-bed teaching hospital in West Columbia, South Carolina. It anchors a health care network that includes six community medical centers and employs a staff of more than 8,700 health care professionals. The hospital was ranked best hospital in the Columbia Metro by U.S. News & World Report, named one of the “Best Places to Work in South Carolina” by SC Biz News and was the first hospital in the state to achieve Magnet with Distinction status for excellence in nursing care. Lexington Medical Center operates one of the busiest Emergency departments in South Carolina, treating nearly 100,000 patients each year. The hospital delivers more than 4,000 babies each year and performs more than 25,000 surgeries.
