Lexington One elementary schools receive Walter P. Rawl and Sons, Inc. School Garden Mini-Grants
September 19, 2014LEXINGTON, SC – Walter P. Rawl and Sons, Inc. and the Lexington One Educational Foundation presented the School Garden Mini-Grants at the September Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees meeting.
Walter P. Rawl awarded a total of $1,500 in grants to four Lexington One elementary schools.
Administrators and teachers who submitted applications and received grants for their schools include: Lake Murray Elementary’s Blair Wells for “How Plants and Animals Synergize to Stay Alive,” New Providence Elementary’s Erica Schumpert for “Little Green Thumbs,” Pelion Elementary’s Amy Bosch for an afterschool program project, and Pleasant Hill Elementary’s Chris Cook for a school garden.
Walter P. Rawl and Sons, Inc. established School Garden Mini-Grants to help Lexington One’s elementary schools enhance students’ knowledge of diet and nutrition by providing financial assistance toward planting and sustaining a school garden.
