LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air Grants $500 each to Camp Rise Above and Postpartum Support Charleston

LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air’s Give Back Grant recipients for December are Camp Rise Above and Postpartum Support Charleston. The Give Back Grant is a monthly donation of $500 to local nonprofit organizations. The $500 checks were presented to these two 501(c)(3) nonprofits today, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM at LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air’s office, 4546 Dorchester Rd, North Charleston, SC 29405.

The LimRic Give Back Grant was initiated in February 2016 and demonstrates “LimRic Pride” by donating $500 to two 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations every month. David Miles, owner of LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air, said, “LimRic Pride is the backbone of our company and it emphasizes the community spirit. We are humbled to give to charities that offer support for people in different walks of life, since it’s the people that make up our community.”

The winners of the grant are chosen from Facebook nominations and voting. Individuals are invited to nominate their favorite charity on LimRic’s Facebook page. Then each month several charities are selected to take part in a two-week long voting process on the LimRic Facebook page. The two charities with the most votes at the end of the voting period receive a $500 check from LimRic.

Camp Rise Above, founded by Barbara Van Thullenar Denton in 2008, is a unique non-profit organization that provides fun, life changing camp experiences to children with serious illnesses, life challenges, and disabilities. They have grown to serve more than 58,000 children in South Carolina, offering high quality camp programs to hundreds of children each year.

“We believe all children deserve to experience the magic of childhood, regardless of their medical status,” said Executive Director, Erin Marie Ulmer. “That’s why we are so grateful to LimRic for their generous donation which will provide life-changing moments for Lowcountry children in need.”

Postpartum Support Charleston was founded by Helena Bradford after the loss of her daughter to postpartum depression. The organization is dedicated to eradicating the stigma surrounding maternal mental illnesses (such as depression, anxiety, OCD, and psychosis during and after pregnancy) to ensure all women who suffer receive support. In addition, Postpartum Support Charleston hosts a peer-led support group for women and their families.

“We don’t want anyone else to experience loss caused by postpartum depression,” said Elaine DeaKyne, Executive Director of Postpartum Support Charleston. “It’s through charitable giving, like LimRic’s Gives Back Grant, that we are able to provide hope and help and to bring awareness to postpartum depression and anxiety.”
