Local attorney joins American Football Coaches Association
February 1, 2016GREENVILLE, SC – David Wyatt, a partner with the Gleaton Wyatt law firm, has joined the American Football Coaches Association.
The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) is the only national organization solely dedicated to improving football coaches through ongoing education, interaction, and networking. Its primary goal is to provide resources for personal and professional development amongst the football coaching profession. The AFCA membership includes over 11,000 members and represents coaches and several stakeholders within the game of football.
Wyatt, who is a former NFL player agent, has joined the AFCA as a resource to assist with the mission of the SC Football Hall of Fame and the firm’s football coaching clientele. The firm has a business law focus, and has developed a strong niche in the world of sports and entertainment.
“Being part of the AFCA not only supports the growth of the great game of football, it positions us to help create more positive influence in South Carolina,” Wyatt said.
Wyatt graduated from Clemson University with a degree in economics and earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He was a certified NFL Contract Advisor for over a decade representing players and coaches in the NFL and has been active on several committees with the South Carolina Bar Association. Founded in December of 1921 by 43 coaches in a meeting at the Hotel Astor in New York City, the AFCA has continued to the push the envelope in regard to the growth of the profession. The AFCA strives to “maintain the highest possible standards in football and the profession of coaching football,” as well as to “provide a forum for the discussion and study of all matters pertaining to football and coaching.”
The flagship event of the AFCA is its national coaches’ convention; which takes place annually during the second week in January. More than 6,000 coaches attend the four -day event.
