Marine Veterans to present check to S.C. National Guard Commander for Medal of Honor Convention
January 29, 2009COLUMBIA, SC – January 29, 2009 – The Greater Columbia Marine Foundation will make a sizeable contribution to the S.C. State Guard Foundation – for the 2010 Medal of Honor Convention – presenting a check to S.C. National Guard Adjutant General Stan Spears, on Tuesday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m., T. Eston Marchant National Guard Complex, 1 National Guard Rd., Columbia, S.C.
Recipients of the Medal of Honor – the nation’s highest military award for valor in combat – will be in attendance along with several general officers from the S.C. Military Department.
Brig. Gen. Eugene F. Rogers, chairman of the Medal of Honor Society’s 2010 Convention, says, It is absolutely essential to the moral health and strength of this nation, especially in this time of war, that we increase the awareness of who these men are and why they – not some celebrity or sports star – are the true heroes of America.
The Medal of Honor Society’s Convention will be hosted by the S.C. State Guard Foundation and the Citadel.
The national convention will be held in Charleston, Sept. 29 — Oct. 3, 2010.
