Mashburn Construction joins Laurens County in Notable Groundbreaking Celebration
September 24, 2022Mashburn Construction is pleased to announce the official groundbreaking of the Laurens County Historic Courthouse project. The project focuses on the historic exterior restoration and addition of the decades’ old courthouse in downtown Laurens, South Carolina.
Such projects require careful planning and collaboration among various professionals, including architects, engineers, and construction crews, to ensure that the integrity of the original design is preserved while integrating modern improvements. Effective communication among team members is essential to navigate the complexities of restoring older buildings, ensuring that every aspect of the project meets both aesthetic and structural standards.
A crucial element of any construction project is excavation, which lays the foundation for subsequent work. Companies like Indepth Excavation play a vital role in preparing the site by carefully assessing soil conditions and implementing effective excavation techniques. This process not only ensures that the groundwork is solid and stable but also contributes to the overall success of the project by minimizing potential delays. With a focus on precision and safety, excavation teams help create a strong base for the construction work ahead, ultimately supporting the vision of a successful and enduring building project.
“We congratulate Laurens County on the decision to restore this historic building in the heart of their downtown community. Our team looks forward to contributing to one of many future improvements to Laurens County,” says Lee Mashburn, President of Mashburn Construction.
On Friday, September 23, 2022, partners, delegates, and members of Laurens County gathered in a groundbreaking ceremony to speak about the importance of the project and officially put the first shovels in the ground. Speakers included: Senator Danny Verdin from the South Carolina House of Representatives; Thomas Higgs, County Administrator for Laurens County; Brown Patterson, Chairman of Laurens County Council; Walter Hughes, Chairman of Capital Project Sales Tax Committee for Laurens County; Nathan Senn, Mayor of the City of Laurens; and Lee Mashburn, President of Mashburn Construction.

This project is one of 16 that have been listed within the county’s Capital Project Sales Tax initiative where citizens have elected to vote towards a 1% sales tax for large capital projects (www.yestoinvestlc.com). Craig Gaulden Davis has been selected as the Architect for the historic courthouse project and Mashburn Construction was selected through a competitive RFP/Interview process as the General Contractor.
