More smart, inexpensive sales tips

Here are five more strategies to boost your sales.
1. Measure everything you test in sales.
Scoop’s personal physician measures everything.

She and her partner are smart business owners.
They measure what their advertising produces in sales.
They measure what their other marketing produces.
They measure customer service by repeat visits and sales.
If you aren’t already doing this, start it now.
Sure it’s a lot of work. But it will tell you what’s working.
Repeat what’s working. Abandon the rest.
2. Know how many “nos you need to get a “yes.”
When I started selling, one of my mentors had this advice:
Find out how many calls it takes to make a sale.
Then you can celebrate every “no” you receive.
That puts you one more call nearer to a “yes.”
That advice has served me well over more than 30 years.
It also arms me against disappointment. I don’t quit.
3. Accept that your prospects buy when they are ready.
What you need is to help them get ready to buy.
They may not buy on the first second or third call.
That doesn’t mean they have no need or aren’t interested.
In our business it used to take 12 cold calls to make a sale.
Working by referral, we cut that number in half.
4. Develop well-written sales letters and phone scripts.
Well-written sales letters and emails prepare them to buy.
Follow up with your well-reheased phone script.
Rehearse it until it does not sound like you’re reading it.

5. Target only your ideal clients and prospects.
Talk or write about offers that will interest them.
A long letter always beats a short one.
You need space to show the benefits of our offers.
The more value you offer, the more they will likely buy.
Google Adwords expert Perry Marshall uses this strategy:
