New Lexington Smashburger to Partner with Children’s Chance; Opening Month Promotion to Support Pediatric Cancer Care Organization
June 2, 2015LEXINGTON, SC – Smashburger, which opened its third Columbia-area location on June 2 at 5449 Sunset Boulevard in Lexington, will be supporting Children’s Chance of South Carolina as its charitable partner.
During the month of June, Smashburger will donate $1 for each kids meal purchased in the Sunset Boulevard store to Children’s Chance. Smashburger guests will be able to make an additional contribution to Children’s Chance through donation boxes in the store.
Children’s Chance is a statewide organization in South Carolina whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children and families who are dealing with the trauma of pediatric cancer. Since 1996, Children’s Chance and their ambassador Zig the Pig have raised money to fund a variety of programs to meet the emotional, psychological and financial needs of pediatric cancer patients and their families. Children’s Chance’s ultimate goal is to help families remain in tact and functional during their crisis.
“Our organization is honored to begin a relationship with Smashburger,” said Stephanie Amaker, executive director of Children’s Chance. “We are confident that this partnership will prove beneficial in our efforts to promote and advance our mission to improve the quality of life for children and families who are fighting pediatric cancer.”
Children’s Chance funds the following programs:
• Family Funds, which provides families assistance by paying non-medical expenses such as rent/mortgage, utilities, car repairs, and other monthly living expenses.
• Angel Funds, which assist families with “out of pocket” living expenses by providing gas, food and grocery cards.
• Counseling sessions from a certified counselor/therapist for any family member affected by pediatric cancer.
• Art Program, which provides a creative outlet for children being treated for pediatric cancer at Palmetto Health.
“Smashburger has a strong tradition of community support,” said Burke Bailey, Operating Partner of the Sunset Boulevard Smashburger. “We’ve had great success raising money for other charitable partners in the past, so this year we want to make an investment in the great work that Children’s Chance does. We hope that providing this exposure to Children’s Chance helps further their mission and gives our customers the opportunity to get more involved with this great organization.”
