New Photographic Society of SC announces inaugural event – January 30th

January 16, 2019

A Unique Repertoire Showcasing Local Photographers

The Photographic Society of South Carolina (PSSC) sets off their first year by hosting a benefit Pop-Up photography show on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. The show will feature more than 30 photographers celebrating their vision of how they interpret the world through a diverse range of photographs.

The showcase exhibits more than 30 pieces by local photographers spanning over 50 years with artists such as Sean Rayford, Robin Smith and more than seven female artists including Susan Hogue and Lee Ann Kornegay. This initial event for PSSC will help to focus attention on the role of photography and celebrate the diversity of the art form in South Carolina.

The newly formed Photographic Society of South Carolina, under board members MaryLouise Miller, Frank Baker and Jeff Amberg, have adopted a vision to develop a dialogue about photography and the photographic arts; an appreciation of the most contemporary and everchanging art form and its role in society, while serving as an informative and engaging resource for photographers, artists, students, and scholars through exhibitions, classes and a community outreach

30+/30+/30 will be on Wednesday, January 30th, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Olympia Room at 701 Whaley. Tickets for the inaugural event are $10 in advance and $15 the night of the show with contributions being accepted at the door. Tickets and information for the Pop-Up show are available online at https://bit.ly/2QyWLOt.

The Photographic Society of South Carolina

The Photographic Society of South Carolina is dedicated to our mission of “the exploration of photography and the ever changing landscape of image making and visual culture.” Our organization looks to partner with other organizations to present photography, to create spaces so that photographers can reveal their work to a larger public, educate about the history of photography, the art and craft of the medium, visual literacy and photography’s role in society.
