Newberry County designated for federal assistance after flooding

COLUMBIA, SC- The Federal Emergency Management Agency has amended its disaster declaration for the recent flooding in order to make survivors in Newberry County eligible for Individual Assistance.
Survivors who sustained losses in the designated counties can apply for assistance by registering online atDisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.
Assistance can include money for temporary rental assistance and essential home repairs for primary homes, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help survivors recover from the effects of the disaster.
Disaster survivors who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability and use a TTY, call 800-462-7585. If survivors use 711 or VRS (Video Relay Service) or require accommodations while visiting a center, call 800-621-3362. All disaster recovery centers are accessible and equipped with tools to accommodate disaster survivors who need disability-related communication aids.
Bamberg, Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Darlington, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Greenwood, Horry, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter, and Williamsburg counties were previously designated for Individual Assistance.
