Ron Jones Joins Firm’s Charleston Office

CHARLESTON, SC –  Ron Jones, a certified specialist in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, has joined Nexsen Pruet as a Member (partner) and will practice in the firm’s Charleston location.

Jones, who has nearly three decades of experience, has an extensive background in debtor and creditor representation and has earned special distinction as a certified specialist in bankruptcy and debtor-creditor law from the South Carolina Supreme Court for his practice.

“Ron has spent the bulk of his career in the Carolinas, building an award-winning practice representing companies and individuals in a broad range of financial situations,” said John Sowards, Nexsen Pruet Board Chairman.

“He knows the issues keeping clients awake at night, and he has the depth of knowledge and real-world understanding companies need to get through them. Ron’s addition only deepens our bench of seasoned Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights attorneys, and we’re looking forward to leveraging his capabilities to further strengthen this important practice group.”

Jones is well versed in the court system of the Carolinas and is licensed to practice in all of the state and federal courts of North Carolina and South Carolina. He began his career working in various positions at the Supreme Court of the United States, including serving as the personal assistant to Chief Justice Warren E. Burger.

Jones is actively involved in a wide range of organizations committed to advancing the legal profession. This includes the South Carolina Specialization Committee for Bankruptcy and Debtor Creditor Law, the North Carolina Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Law Section, the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association, the Commercial Law League of America, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Jones earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Arts from George Washington University in Washington D.C., and a law degree from Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina.
