Patten joins Lexington One as controller

During the December 20, 2016 regular monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the hiring of Donna M. Patten, Certified Public Accountant, as controller in the district’s Fiscal Services Office.

Patten comes to Lexington District One from Colliers International in Columbia, where she served as accounting manager from 2015 to 2017. From 2008 to 2015, she gained experience in public education as director of finance for School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties by supervising and performing all accounting processes, and preparing the annual budget, comprehensive annual financial report and other financial documents.

Patten began her career in 1993 working as a staff accountant for Gamble Givens and Moody, PA in Summerville and Ernst & Young in Greenville. In 1995, she became the director of procurement of special revenue projects for Berkeley County School District in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, where she performed accounting processes for grants and other special allocations, supervised the purchasing department, and prepared bid packages, requests for proposals and quotes.

As controller for Premier Environmental Services in St. George, South Carolina, from 2006 to 2007, Patten handled accounting processes and readied the company for a corporate buyout. From 2007 to 2008, she worked at Dorchester Academy in St. George as director of finance, supervising and performing all accounting duties, purchasing goods and services, and preparing the school’s financial statements and reports.

Patten earned her Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of South Carolina.
