Providence Hospitals receives ISO 9001:2008 certification

May 11, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Providence Hospitals has successfully received ISO 9001:2008 certification, placing it in a class of businesses recognized globally for the use of best-practice quality-management principles.

ISO 9001:2008 aims to standardize processes worldwide in order to ensure that organizations use practices that are proven to work. Within hospitals, ISO primarily reduces or eliminates variation so that critical work processes are performed at a consistently high level.

“An organization’s standard practices affect all areas of its service, from the management of facilities and interaction with staff to the use of equipment. Providence Hospitals’ use of consistent and proven best-practice procedures positively impacts our experiences within the workplace, as well as that of our vendors and patients,” says Interim CEO Terrence P. Kessler. “With ISO 9001:2008 certification, our staff, customers, and associates have the validation that our performance is supported by consistent successful processes.”

Certification is a vigorous multi-audit process requiring the applicant to demonstrate product that repeatedly meets customer, statutory and regulatory requirements. Applicants must also demonstrate the aim to enhance customer satisfaction and continually improve.

“ISO 9001:2008 certification rewards our long-held dedication to product, service and community, and it further solidifies that commitment going forward,” says Kessler.
