Recent personnel news from Watson Tate Savory

Watson Tate Savory (WTS) is pleased to welcome Matthew Allen, LEED Green Associate, and Abigail Thielke to the firm’s staff. Further, WTS would like to announce that Kaitlyn P. Childes, AIA, has successfully completed all requirements to become a licensed architect.
Matt joins the firm as an Intern Architect, after a previous internship with WTS in 2015. Abbie is responsible for marketing and business development as Marketing Coordinator for the firm. Kaitlyn was recognized in early October for her achievement by the AIASC Board of Directors, the SC Board of Architectural Examiners, and AIASC’S Fellows and Past Presidents at their celebratory luncheon honoring the 13 new architects in South Carolina.
“Abbie and Matt bring great enthusiasm, energy and focus to Watson Tate Savory,” says firm principal Tom Savory. “They are each exceptional at what they do, and we are very pleased that they chose to join our firm. We look forward to their many strong contributions to our team.”

Matt holds a 2017 Master of Architecture from the University of North Carolina Charlotte, where he was class valedictorian and recipient of the American Institute of Architects’ prestigious Henry Adams Medal, awarded to the top graduate in each accredited architecture class in the nation. He is also a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Science, Architectural Technology and Design, and is the recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships.
Abbie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina with a focus on Public Relations and a minor in English. She comes to the firm with three and a half years of public relations, magazine publishing and editorial writing experience. Abbie is a native of Augusta, Georgia but made Columbia her home upon graduating from USC in 2014. Abbie is active in the community and currently serves on the board for the Columbia Museum of Art Contemporaries as marketing chair.
Kaitlyn has been with WTS since August 2014. Most recently, she has worked on Western Carolina University’s Brown Dining Hall, the University of South Carolina’s 1892 GridIron Club at Williams-Brice Stadium, and the winning entry for the AIA South Carolina Center for Architecture competition. Kaitlyn graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Architecture from Clemson University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology. While at Georgia Tech, she received the “Best Masters Project” recognition and the “Henry Adams AIA Certificate of Achievement.” Kaitlyn also enjoys hand drawing, participating in project presentations, and making architectural models.
