ReWa’s 2011 Annual Reports Receive National Awards

GREENVILLE, SC – July 26, 2012 – The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) with two awards for its extensive financial report, the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), and for its shorter community-oriented report, the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).

For the nineteenth consecutive year, ReWa has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2011 CAFR. The CAFR award recognizes ReWa for clearly communicating its financial story and its ability to motivate potential users to read the piece. ReWa Controller Patricia Dennis received the GFOA CAFR Award, as the individual responsible for preparing the report.

For the fourteenth consecutive year, ReWa has received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting its 2011 PAFR, distributed through local publications to the community. The PAFR award recognizes ReWa for comprehensive, high-quality reports which are accessible and understandable to the local public. ReWa Customer Service/Contracts Manager Stacey Flax received the GFOA PAFR Award, as the individual responsible for preparing the report.

Impartial, experienced panels of judges are selected to analyze the Annual Financial Reports.The awards are presented annually by the GFOA of the United States and Canada and are the highest forms of recognition in the areas of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)

The purpose of the Government Finance Officers Association is to enhance and promote the professional management of governments for the public benefit by identifying and developing financial policies and best practices and promoting their use through education, training, facilitation of member networking, and leadership. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,400 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.

Renewable Water Resources (ReWa)

ReWa’s goal is to promote a cleaner environment, and to protect the public health and water quality of the Upstate waterways, while providing and developing the necessary sewer infrastructure for the growing economy. ReWa serves more than 400,000 industrial, commercial and residential customers in Greenville County and parts of Anderson, Spartanburg, Pickens and Laurens Counties.
