Richland County flood information update

Helping Pets Return Home: Richland County and the City of Columbia are helping reunite displaced pets with their owners. If you are housing a displaced pet, please call Richland County Animal Care or the City of Columbia Animal Control. The animal may have a microchip, which can be scanned by an animal service officer to identify the pet’s owner.  For more information on microchip scanning services, please call Richland County at 803-929-6000 or the City of Columbia at 803-776-7387.

FEMA Community Education and Outreach: FEMA will have a Community Education and Outreach (CEO) Team in Richland County Oct. 22–27 at the Lowe’s Home Improvement store at 7441 Two Notch Road, Columbia. The CEO will provide information to the general public about measures they can take to clean up after a flood, and they’ll assist residents with FEMA disaster relief registration. The CEO will operate Oct. 22–Oct. 27 during the following hours:

  • Thursday through Saturday: 7 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday: 8 a.m.– 6:30 p.m.
  • Monday: 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

 Water Distribution Sites: Richland County continues to operate the following water distribution sites from 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. until further notice:

  •  Lower Richland Sheriff’s Department Substation, 2615 Lower Richland Blvd.
  • Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 760 Campground Road

Disaster Recovery Center Locations: FEMA mobile offices are at three Richland Library locations to assist residents affected by the flood with registering for disaster assistance, from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., seven days a week:

  • Richland Library Southeast, 7421 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia
  • Richland Library Eastover, 608 Main St., Eastover
  • Richland Library Main, 1421 Assembly St., Columbia

Lower Richland Donation Drive: Councilman Kelvin Washington, District 10, has organized a donation drive for the Lower Richland County community. Donors can drop off items from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday at the warehouse located at 1601 Shop Road. Items needed are non-perishable food items, furniture, baby diapers and wipes and bottled water. (At this time, clothes and shoes are not needed.)
