Richland County to honor Veterans through Operation Green Light
November 6, 2023County to illuminate office buildings with green light Nov. 6-12
In appreciation and support of veterans, Richland County Government will join Operation Green Light, an initiative of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO), by illuminating County buildings with green light during the week of Veterans Day, Nov. 6-12.
Each year, NACo and NACVSO invite county governments nationwide to honor those who have served in the armed forces by using green light to illuminate public buildings and businesses.
About 200,000 service members transition to civilian communities annually, where they continue to serve as members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, religious groups and civil service organizations.
Operation Green Light is designed to send a message of hope and acknowledgement to community veterans, who studies have shown experience high stress levels and elevated risk of suicide during their first year of transition from military to civilian life.
Richland County is one of more than 3,000 counties across the nation invited to participate in this annual recognition.
