Richland One offers Golden Passes to senior citizens

August 27, 2017

Senior citizens, Richland One has a great deal for you: Lunch for under $4.00 and free admission to district football games and other athletics events.

Here’s how it works: Richland One offers a complimentary Golden Activity Pass to district retirees and to senior citizens ages 60 and older who live in the Richland One school attendance zone. The permanent photo identification card admits seniors free to all district-sponsored athletics events held at Richland One schools or athletics fields, except Sportsarama, playoff games and tournaments. But the bargains don’t end there. With their Golden Passes, senior citizens also can purchase a delicious and nutritious lunch at any district school for only $3.75.

Retiree Tom Ryans and his friend, Charles Jones, recently picked up their Golden Activity Passes. “I have nephews and the kids of friends who play sports and I can’t wait to utilize my card and go to some high school football games,” said Ryans.

Seniors may pick up a Golden Activity Pass from the Richland One Office of Communications, located on the second floor of the Stevenson Administration Building at 1616 Richland Street. Passes will be issued on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a. m. – noon and 2 – 4 p.m. Seniors also may schedule an appointment for a different time.

In order to obtain a Golden Activity Pass, seniors must show a valid driver’s license or a South Carolina Identification Card as proof of residence within the boundaries of Richland One. Golden Activities Passes are not issued to current district employees who are age 60 and older.

Persons who would like more information about Richland One’s Golden Activity Passes should contact Gwendolyn Haynes-Etheredge in the Office of Communications at 231-7504 or at [email protected]. Media inquiries should be directed to the Richland One Office of Communications at 231-7510.
